KAIST Business School is an internet hotspot with wireless internet available throughout the buildings. The Reuters Korea sponsored Trading Room enables students to gain practical financial trading skills, and is the only one of its kind in Asia Pacific. The Lab System: Unique & Highly Effective Learning Environment

Prominent among the several features that make student life on the KAIST Business School campus unique is our system of labs. Every KAIST Business School student is assigned to a specific laboratory and is provided an individual workspace. Students socialize, work cooperatively, learn from each other and conduct research projects in their lab, under the guidance of a supervising professor.

KAIST Business School graduates progress on to successful careers in a variety of industries, ranging from consulting to manufacturing. KAIST Business School consistently achieves graduate employment rates in the high 90 percentile. In 2006, 100% of graduates were successful in obtaining employment.

International Location

KAIST Business School is located in the northeastern part of Seoul, which is one of the biggest cities in the world. From here, students have the opportunity to travel throughout the Asian Pacific region, in particular to Japan and China.

I chose KAIST Business School for a number of reasons. Firstly, I like to discover different countries and cultures. Being from the Ivory Coast and studying in France, KAIST Business School provides me with the chance to learn about an Asian culture and Asian business practices. Additionally, KAIST Business School offers the opportunity to study both technology and management, and the integration of the two. With individual research or interests being greatly appreciated by professors and other students, KAIST Business School offers the chance to exchange experiences and learn good case practices.

Applicants for admission to our master and doctoral programs in the Management Engineering department must have a strong academic background. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree to apply for the master’s program and must hold a master’s degree in the case of admission to the Ph.D. program. KAIST BS will consider grade point average, TOEFL, your major and if applicable, the competitiveness of your previously attended institution as basic criteria in our admission selection process. Also, a statement of purpose and the background of thesis and research studies are considered during the admission process. Applicants for admission to the doctoral program should have a grade point average of not lower than a B.

In addition, students applying to the MBA programs must demonstrate proficiency in English. Applicants whose first language is not English and who attended educational institutions taught in languages other than English must submit their scores on either the TOEFL or TOEIC tests. KAIST BS will consider company experience, your academic major and if applicable, the competitiveness of your previously attended institution.

Candidates for both the Management Engineering and MBA programs will go through two stages in the admissions decision process. First, the Admissions Committee reviews each individual candidate and thoroughly considers each completed admissions portfolio. Based on this portfolio, candidates for admission are invited to partake in an in-depth personal interview. This interview, stage two of our admissions process, is an integral part of the admissions decision. One-on-one communication enables candidates to present essential aspects of their background, character and professional aspirations.

Knowledge Chief Executive Officer Program (KCEO)
KAIST Business School, in partnership with Maeil Economic Daily, has opened the KCEO Program to educate top managers in creating effective knowledge -based enterprises and to implement modern knowledge management strategies.

The KCEO Program’s curriculum consists of more than 20 lectures and case presentation sessions organized into three main topic sections: Advent of the Knowledge Economy and Knowledge-based Enterprise Management, Theory and Practice of Knowledge Management, and Organizations and IT Infrastructure for Knowledge Management. Lectures are conducted in an interactive, discussion-oriented style and the participating top managers are required to submit case reports on implementing knowledge management in their respective firms.

Graduates of the KCEO Program become leaders capable of creating sustainable competitive advantages in the 21st century knowledge economy.

Advanced Venture Management Program (AVM)

Within a few years of its creation, a venture firm goes through its most vulnerable stage — a stage that determines its ultimate success or failure. It is in this stage that management knowledge and skills are crucial. In response to demands by Korean business people, KAIST Business School has established this unique program targeting the top executives of venture firms experiencing this critical transition stage.

The AVM program offers top executives of venture firms and venture capitalists the opportunity to learn entrepreneurial approaches and management techniques for the venture process of foundation-growth-maturity, to learn the management of innovation and changes, strategic management, marketing and technology management, attracting and working with venture capitalists, and managing organizations and human resources.

The management environment of venture firms is vastly different from that of mature firms. Creative problem-solving ability needs to be cultivated to meet the ever-changing role of managers. The curriculum of the AVM Program is balanced between theory and application, and emphasizes participation and practice in business clinics, case studies, and business plan development, thereby enhancing problem-solving and adaptive ability. As a part of the AVM Program, participants join in a one-week field trip to Beijing and Shanghai.

Programme overview

Purpose
Spreading e-Government knowledge to public sector and businesses doing e-Government projects.
Carrying out education programs such as ‘IT-based innovation management’ and ‘direction and strategic actions of e-government initiatives’.

Goals
The Advanced e-Government program emphasizes four categories that senior managers need to achieve in their e-Government fields, and hereafter new issues will be reflected in them:
1. Developing a direction of knowledge based e-Government
2. Establishing management techniques for higher value added e-Government
3. Creating a systematic organization and leadership
4. Developing foundation skills and management techniques to achieve citizen-centered electronic government.

Advanced Program for Innovative Consultants (AIC)

Program overview

KAIST Executive AIC Program provides essential knowledge and expertise to mid and high level executives aiming to move into top-level decision making positions. Equipping them with better problem solving skills, a more specific future road map and a broader human network, the program supports each participant in moving towards the goal of all executives: to become a CEO.

With both refresher knowledge and ultra new theories, the program covers a broad range of topics: Strategy Formulation & Methodology, e-business, Financial Analysis & Valuation, Human Resources Management, Marketing, CSR, 6 Sigma, Negotiation & Alliance, BSC and M&A. Courses are taught by both KBS professors and professional experts from partner firms. Participants have opportunities to gain hands-on experience by leading projects presented directly to the CEOs of their target field and companies.
