There are two types of core courses in the Bachelor of Management programme. The first type is the common core courses and they are compulsory for all students. The second type is the major core courses that are compulsory for students who specialise in a particular field of specialisation.

Foundation courses are introductory courses or courses that build the foundation in a specific programme of study and as a result form the pre-requisite courses that are compulsory for all students of the programme. These courses are at the 100 and 200 levels that have been determined by the same programme of study or another programme of study that is related. These courses are common to all students of the programme of study.
Modern & Classical Languages and Culture at Assumption College
Minor courses are a package of courses in one area of specialisation or a package of courses reserved for and offered to students of another programme of study. Students of the School of Management are encouraged to take minor programmes from the following fields: Economics, TV and Film Production, Journalism, Computer Science, Translation, English and Islamic Studies.
Main admission channel (the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia)
The intake of students into all IPTAs is conducted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. Advertisements calling for applications will be placed in local newspapers/dailies in January each year by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Higher Education. The closing date for the submission of applications is 10 working days subsequent to the official release of the Matriculation and STPM results. The closing date for the submission of applications by candidates of Diploma/Equivalent courses is two weeks subsequent to the date of the advertisement.

The objectives of the Bachelor of Management degree are:
To provide the country with managers having basic skills as well as in specialised fields of management;

As of the 2006/2007 academic session, the USM-MBA (Online Mode) Programme becomes the fifth and latest addition to the graduate programmes at the School of Management, Universiti Sains Malaysia. The Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) is a four-year full time direct meritorious honours programme with a requirement of 36 courses*. This course introduces the concept of strategy and implementation. It helps the students to appreciate the role of general managers in enhancing and sustaining corporate performance. Using the skills already acquired in the core courses, this course develops cross-functional and holistic thinking and the ability to recognise patterns of strategy under conditions of incomplete and imperfect information.

This course is an introduction to an overview of key concepts in management and organisation theory. Its goal is to enable students to understand the manager’s role, constraints, levels and opportunities within complex organisations.
