Quantitative Methods and Statistics
This module provides the basic aspects of quantitative analysis, probability theory and data analysis, with special reference to finance. Topics include the time value of money, theory of interest, probability theory, descriptive data analysis, decision trees, estimation and hypothesis testing, and simple statistical analysis such as correlation analysis, regression analysis and time series analysis.

SMU will launch a new Investment Banking (IBT) Track in 2008 under the Bachelor of Business Management Programme. Students interested in the IB Track are required to pursue Finance as a major.

SMU Internship Programme
An important feature of the BBM is the internship programme at established organizations, both local and international. The internship programme aims to provide students with a deeper cross-cultural appreciation of business practices and research. The duration of the internship programme is a minimum of 12 weeks, of which two weeks must be spent in a voluntary welfare organization. This is to inculcate in students the value of being responsible and civic-minded citizens of society.

Course Details
The 4-year BBM degree programme aims at developing well-rounded individuals who are schooled in a range of diverse subject areas. Each student must complete 36 courses* from all the subject areas. Each subject area covers a list of courses, from which the student chooses his/her preferences according to interests and pace.
*Students admitted before AY 2008/2009 must complete 35 courses from all the subject areas

Advanced Quantitative and Economic Analysis
This module builds on and extends the coverage of the earlier modules of Economic Analysis and Quantitative Methods and Statistics. Some advanced topics in analysis of economic data are covered, including multiple regression model, time series and econometric modelling, nonparametric statistics, multivariate analysis. Applications of these techniques in portfolio management, economic forecasting, term structure modelling, asset pricing theories, performance measures and interest rate management will be examined.

Bachelor of Business Management
The Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) is a four-year full time direct meritorious honours programme with a requirement of 36 courses*. However, students may be able to complete the programme in three years through the granting of credits (a maximum of five credits may be given) or by taking more courses in the regular terms or in the summer terms.

Corporate Finance
This course aims to provide students with a basic understanding of Corporate Finance. Students will be exposed to key financial concepts and tools commonly used by managers in making sound financial decisions. These include time value of money, risk-return trade-off analysis and cost of capital. The course also reviews the basic financial activities undertaken by firms to create value for its shareholders. These activities include investing, financing and dividend policy.
