The Executive LLM in Korea program is designed to educate and train Korean attorneys, corporate managers, and officials of government agencies working in the areas of international trade, litigation, and intellectual property to become highly competent in a competitive environment.

We seek students who possess not only the intellectual talent but also the communication skills, judgment, ambition, and maturity needed to succeed in law school and contribute to a dramatically changing world.

The Executive LLM Program is designed for promising executives with substantial experience in Korean law and business. The typical class has representatives from firms and companies of various sizes and legal backgrounds. Most students have worked for several years. By sharing their perspectives in the classroom and in social settings, students with work experience enrich the learning experience for all students.

As Korea will soon open its legal market to the world, our program facilitates networking for legal and business professionals inlaw firms and in-house counsel departments or intellectual property departments of corporations and corresponding government agencies.

As English has become the common language of both international business and the accompanying legal practice, the Executive LLM Program is conducted in English. Students are therefore also expected to be proficient in spoken and written English.

Economic Development of Korea Course at KAIST Graduate School of Management

MGT565 Economic Development of Korea

This course is a blend of a survey of various theories on economic growth and an analysis of the Korean economy. In order to build a framework for the analysis of the Korean economy, various growth models, including neoclassical growth models, endogenous growth models, and R&D-based growth models, will be studied. Based on the intermediate knowledge on economic growth, the process and characteristics of the development of the Korean economy will be analyzed and discussed. A working knowledge of calculus is needed.

First, we will review some stylized facts on economic growth. Then, by studying existing growth models, we try to understand why some countries produce much more output per worker than others. In particular, the focus will be on the mechanics of the accumulation of various production factors such as labor or human capital, physical capital, and technological knowledge. In addition, recent models emphasizing R&D (technology) and social infrastructure as major determinants of economic growth will also be studied.

Second, we will apply the predictions and implications of the various growth models to the evolution of the Korean economy. In doing so, we will discuss government policies, business strategies, and social infrastructure as well as future strategies for economic prosperity.
