Information systems are essential to the effective operation and management of virtually all business organizations. Computer dependency is simply a fact of life. The focus of this course is on the design of computer-based information systems. Stresses concepts and methods used in the analysis and design of computer-based information systems. Explores the major issues at each stage in the design of a system, including the management of the implementation process. Various technical tools ranging from flowcharts and decision tables to automated design techniques are discussed. Emphasizes the importance of users in the design process and focuses on approaches that improve the successful implementation of a computer system.

Corporate Management and Information Technology Seminar
This course is designed to give students a basic understanding for the management issues surrounding the development and use of information technology in organizations. In particular, with in-depth case studies, we will discuss how information technology can play a fundamental role of enabling significant changes of business processes, work practices, organizational designs, and performance in organizations. The course focuses on the following areas: 1) Information technology and the Internet, and 2) Information technology and the organization. Also, this course introduces the subject of computer networks and the use of computer networks in business applications. Students will investigate progressive database management and administration principles. Topics include design, implementation, and management techniques. Students will utilize data definition and manipulation languages on leading database platforms. Emerging trends in database technology are also scrutinized.

Personal Productivity with Information Technology
This course is designed to give the students a basic understanding of management issues that surround the development and use of information technology in organizations. In particular, students will discuss how information technology can play a fundamental role in impacting changes in organizations’ business processes, work practices, organizational designs, and performance. The course is structured around two core areas: 1) Information Technology and the Internet, and 2) Information Technology and the Organization.

Initiated in March 1995, the Techno-MBA Program was the first of its kind in Korea. GSM 5170: Management Information Systems (3 Credits)
This course attempts to enable students to make rational decisions concerning design of information systems and adoption of computer technology. Topics include an overview of management information systems (MIS), development of the computer industry, conceptual framework for MIS, physical configuration and technology for MIS and finally, trends in the development of computing and electronics in Malaysia and other selected countries in East Asia.
